Reese Witherspoon On Resemblance With Daughter Ava Phillippe, And Parenting

Reese Witherspoon revealed that she doesn't think her daughter Ava Phillippe looks like her, despite fans saying otherwise and often comparing photos of the two on social media. The 46-year-old actress also opened up about parenting her children.

Witherspoon shares Ava, 23, and Deacon, 18, with ex-husband, actor Ryan Phillippe. She also has a 10-year-old son named Tennessee James Toth with her husband, Jim Toth.

Speaking with host Jenna Bush Hager on the "Today" show Tuesday, the actress said she doesn't see the resemblance between her and Ava "that much." The comment came after the host called the mother-daughter duo "twins."

Considering she has kids of different ages, Witherspoon also shared how parenting works in this case.

"You establish a different relationship," Witherspoon said, PageSix reported. "First of all, you're managing them a lot when they're little and it's very physical. And then it's more emotional support. And suggestions, not telling them what to do when they get a little bit older."

While Witherspoon explained that after a point of time you don't need to give suggestions about what to do, it is important to "really nurture" adult relationships with them.

"Give them respect and space to become who they are, not who you want them to be," she continued.

Witherspoon has been always a proud mother who loves to share her kids' photos on social media. Previously, she shared a sweet photo of her posing with Ava after her 23rd birthday.

Ava celebrated her birthday on Sept. 9 and the mother of three wrote a sweet post on Instagram.

"Happy Birthday to my favorite daughter, Ava !!" the actress captioned the photo. "Every day that I get to watch you become the most amazing woman is such a gift. Your gigantic heart, generous spirit, and endless creativity inspire me every day. I love you so much."

"I know I technically have to be your favorite daughter considering there's no competition...but I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing it!" Ava replied to the post.

On the work front, Witherspoon will be next seen in the movies like "Your Place or Mine," "Legally Blonde 3," "Tinker Bell" and "Wish List." She will also feature in the TV series, "Tiny Trailblazers."
