‘Reign’ Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 3 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘Coronation’? [VIDEO]
“Reign” fans better prepare for a royal party! Mary (Adelaide Kane) and Francis (Toby Regbo) have been forced to deal with royal issues for the past few weeks – yet the pair has yet to be officially crowned king and queen of France. But that will all change in episode 3 of the hit CW series.
The synopsis for episode 3, aptly titled “Coronation,” will find Queen Mother Catherine (Megan Follows) making “excessive and lavish preparations” for Francis and Mary’s coronation ceremony. But as usual, she has ulterior motives for her actions – the former queen of France wants to “give the impression of stability to the realm.”
Unfortunately France is anything but stable. In episode 2 Mary and Francis were forced to not only deal with the aftermath of the Black Plague sweeping the land, but also the consequences of killing Lord Edward. While Mary stands by her actions of throwing Lord Edward in a chamber filled with plague victims, the royal couple will still have to face Lord Edward’s vengeful father, Lord Narcisse (Craig Parker) in episode 3.
The synopsis for episode 3 of “Reign” teases that Mary and Francis will have to search for ways to feed the people in their kingdom after famine strikes France – even if it means “risking the wrath of Narcisse.” On top of that, the new king and queen are facing political and religious unrest. But that won’t be the worst of their troubles if a prophecy about the dead rising comes true.
According to the synopsis, Francis will be “preoccupied by the harrowing suspicion that his dead father’s spirit can possess the living and is haunting Francis as revenge for his murder.” As “Reign” viewers saw in episode 2, Bash (Torrance Coombs) had warned Francis about the possibility of the dead remaining behind. But Francis didn’t believe his half-brother until the nurse caring for his child with Lola (Anna Popplewell) became possessed by the spirit of King Henry.
“Reign” Season 2 episode 3 will air on the CW on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 9 p.m. EDT. Watch the promo video for “Coronation” below:
