Wrestling legend Ric Flair has claimed it is unlikely for John Cena to win a record 17th world title in the WWE.

Cena is currently tied with Flair at 16 world titles, but the former is not a regular competitor in the WWE Company, having established a successful career in Hollywood. Cena's 16 world titles include 13 WWE Championships, which is a record for the title. He is also a five-time US Champion, a four-time world tag team champion, a two-time Royal Rumble match winner and a one-time Money in the Bank match winner.

In a recent interview, Flair said Randy Orton has a better chance than Cena of setting the record for most world titles in the WWE. Orton and Cena faced off against each other quite often back in the days. The rivalry between the two is recognized as one of the longest and greatest rivalries in WWE history.

"I don't think so. I don't think they will ever give it to a part-time performer. I think that Randy Orton has got a better shot at it. Randy will come back, he has to have surgery. I certainly wouldn't be offended because the real number is 21. They all have a way to go," said Flair, according to WrestlingNewsCo

"I love John Cena. He is such a credible performer and just one of the great guys in the business," he added.

The RK-Bro member holds the joint record of second-most world titles, along with Triple H – 14 titles. It includes 10 WWE Championships, two Royal Rumble wins and four Heavy Weight Championships. Moreover, Orton became the youngest world champion in WWE history after he clinched the World Heavyweight Championship at the age of 24.

Unlike Cena, Orton is still very much active in the WWE Company. In fact, he was the company's original choice to challenge Roman Reigns for his undisputed WWE and Universal title at the upcoming SummerSlam event. Unfortunately, Orton had to undergo surgery that ruled him out.

The SummerSlam event, considered the "Biggest Party of the Summer," is scheduled to take place Saturday at Nissan Stadium, Nashville. Following Orton's surgery, it was confirmed that Brock Lesnar would battle against Reigns, which would also see the end of their rivalry. At WrestleMania 38 earlier this year, Reigns defeated Lesnar and unified the WWE and Universal titles.
