'Rick And Morty' Showrunner Dan Harmon Wants More Episodes For Season 4
"Rick and Morty" Season 4 might air more episodes.
Showrunner Dan Harmon wishes to do more episodes for his animated sitcom on Adult Swim. Initially, the "Ricky and Morty" Season 3 should have 14 episodes, but it was down to 10, which according to Slash Film was too short for an animated series. For instance, "The Simpsons" delivers 22 episodes per season.
On his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harmon took the blame why they were not able to deliver the promised 14 episodes. "I mostly blame myself for doing 10 instead of 14. I'm still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us," he said.
"I would like to think I've learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now," Harmon added. "But then I have to say, 'Yeah but you're the guy who says we can do 14 who turned out to be wrong so we're not listening to you now.' The nice healthy way to approach this is I want to prove it with the first 10 of season 4 — prove it to ourselves, to production, to the network — that it's so easy that we'll earn additional episodes."
According to RenewCancelTV, Adult Swim has officially renewed the animated sitcom for another season. Thus, Season 4 might likely have more episodes, if Harmon and Justin Roiland can deliver this time.
Meanwhile, "Rick and Morty" Season 3 is airing its finale episode this Sunday. According to Harmon fans can expect a conflict between Rick (Roiland) and the president of the United States (Keith David) in the upcoming episode. "It's Rick in a conflict with the president of the United States. Keith David returns to reprise his role. And that's the main story of that episode, Rick vs. the United States," the co-creator said.
Adult Swim has already released a promo clip for the anticipated episode. In the teaser, the grandfather and grandson duo are on a mission involving Kennedy's sex tunnel.
According to the POTUS, there are aliens in Kennedy's sex tunnel and he wants them to be hunted down and taken out. He advises the shocked Morty (Roiland) that he needs to forget the Kennedy sex tunnel, Truman cocaine lounge, McKinley hooker dump and Lincoln slave Coliseum after the mission to avoid national embarrassment.
Watch the finale of “Rick and Morty” Season 3 on Sunday, 11:30 p.m. EDT on Adult Swim.
