‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Casts Brit Morgan; Filming Delayed Amid Cole Sprouse’s Brawl With Street Performer
Brit Morgan has just been cast in a recurring role in “Riverdale” Season 2.
According to Deadline, Morgan will give life to the character of Penny Peabody, a.k.a. the “Snake Charmer.” Penny also happens to be a backroom attorney tied to the Southside Serpents. She is kept by the gang on retainer in case of run-ins with the law. With this, Penny will work closely with Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) dad, FP (Skeet Ulrich).

When “Riverdale” Season 2 returns to The CW in October, FP will still be in jail. Penny will defend him and in return, she would expect to receive non-monetary gains. At one point, Jughead will discover the truth about Penny, and he will realize that she isn’t someone that his dad could trust completely.
Morgan previously starred in “True Blood” as a werewolf named Debbie Pelt. She also recurred in The CW’s “Supergirl” as supervillain Livewire.
Meanwhile, the filming for “Riverdale” Season 2 was recently put on hold after Sprouse allegedly got into an argument with a street performer. According to Teen Vogue, Sprouse and his co-star, Lili Reinhart, were filming their scenes as Jughead and Betty in the Vancouver Art Gallery on Thursday, July 13, when a street performer started playing her instrument.
Sprouse directly approached the musician, whose name was later revealed to be Babe Coal, and asked if they could give him and his co-stars an hour to finish filming. Unfortunately, Coal stressed that she’s in need of some money and that’s why she’s performing on the streets. According to a policy in Vancouver, street performers are allowed to stay in select areas for a maximum of 60 minutes. However, they should not interrupt businesses or residents.
In the end, Coal did not budge and an upset Sprouse called her a “scam artist.” A video of their exchange was uploaded on YouTube. One fan handed Sprouse a CD of Coal’s songs and the former Disney child star broke it on camera. On her Twitter account, Coal responded to Sprouse’s move and said that she was treated with “hate” by the actor.
“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. EST.
