‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Spoilers: Jughead, Betty’s Relationship In Danger Due To Newbie Toni Topaz?

“Riverdale” Season 2 will see Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) struggling with their relationship.

In the finale episode for Season 1, Jughead decided to join the Southside Serpents despite Betty’s attempts at convincing him to do otherwise. Jughead’s new life in the south side of town will leave Betty worried about her boyfriend in the upcoming episodes.

But the environment in the southern part of Riverdale isn’t the only thing Betty should be concerned about. There are rumors that a new character named Toni Topaz will be introduced in Season 2. According to Screen Rant, Toni is a student at Southside High, Jughead’s new school. The character was first introduced in the “Archie” comic books in 2012 as a bisexual female character with a distinctive pink hair.

In April, a leaked footage of actress Lorelei Linklater auditioning for the role of Toni surfaced online. However, Linklater’s casting still hasn’t been announced by The CW. It is unclear whether or not she has been cast for the role or if Toni will actually be introduced in “Riverdale” Season 2.

The cast of the hit CW series have already started filming the upcoming episodes, and Linklater was also nowhere in sight. Unlike her, “Riverdale” Season 2 newcomer Mark Conseulos was photographed with his co-stars during their first table read. The actor, who will play the role of Hiram Lodge, was also seen with “Riverdale” lead star KJ Apa, who plays the role of Archie.

Apa’s onscreen dad, Luke Perry, wasn’t spotted in the photo posted by Madchen Amick on Instagram earlier this month as well. In the Season 1 finale, Perry’s character, Fred, was shot by a masked guy at Pop’s. “Riverdale” Season 2 will therefore kick off with Archie searching for the person responsible for hurting his father. There are also some rumors suggesting that Fred could be killed off, but Perry was finally seen on set of Season 2 with his onscreen partner, Molly Ringwald.
