‘Riverdale’ Star KJ Apa Pokes Fun At Newcomer Charles Melton Post-Gym Workout

“Riverdale” Season 2 star KJ Apa has developed a close friendship with the new cast members of the hit CW series.

On his Instagram account, the actor, who plays the role of Archie Andrews, posted a hilarious photo of Charles Melton. The latter will play the role of Reggie Mantle, replacing Ross Butler after he announced his return to “13 Reasons Why.” In the snap, Melton is wearing pink shades and pink swimsuit that was edited by Apa. In reality, Melton was only wearing his khaki shorts and was half-naked.

Over the weekend, Melton revealed that he, Apa and Mark Consuelos have been hitting the gym. The three male co-stars have become gym buddies. They also work out whenever they have a free time. At present, the cast of “Riverdale” Season 2 are in Canada filming their upcoming episodes.

Meanwhile, Apa attended the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday with his co-stars Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, Casey Cott, Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch. While there, Reinhart confirmed the introduction of Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz. The actress, who plays Betty, also shared how Toni will come between her character and Jughead (Sprouse).

“She’s the girl that Jughead meets at Southside, so obviously people are going to think that there’s a little bit of rivalry there, and that’s possible, but I don’t think we should just set up Toni to be a villain. But, you know, things might happen. Jughead is spending a lot of time at Southside and Betty’s at Riverdale High,” she said (via Entertainment Tonight).

Mendes revealed that Veronica’s ex-boyfriend, Nick St. Clair, will be introduced in Season 2. As of late, it is still unclear who will play the role. But while speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Mendes said that Nick will unleash Veronica’s dark side. But in Season 2, episode 5, Veronica will bring all the female characters in the show together. “This Nick St. Clair guy, the ex-boyfriend that comes into town, he does some really bad things. And it involves Veronica and Cheryl. And because of that, it brings all of the girls together to kind of fight it,” she said.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
