Roommates 'Attack Man With Machete, Oxygen Tank' After Food Goes Missing From Fridge
A man and a woman have been arrested in Tennessee for attacking their roommate with a machete and an oxygen tank after food went missing from their fridge at the apartment they shared, police said.
Officials from the Metro Nashville Police department responded to reports of assault from a residence in the neighborhood of Madison, Nashville, on Wednesday. Police arrested 45-year-old David Curry and 46-year-old Wanda Plumely for "attacking their roommate after an argument over food," news outlet WKRN.com reported.
According to the report, Curry confronted the victim about the food taken from the refrigerator, leading to an argument between the two. During the argument, Curry is said to have punched the victim that resulted in the latter falling into a window before tripping and falling to the ground.
Hearing the commotion, Plumely came out from her room and intervened in the scuffle. She reportedly hit the victim's head with an oxygen tank while Curry held him in a chokehold.
According to a police report, Curry tried to gouge out the victim's eyes and threatened to chop off his head with a machete. He then hit the victim's head with the same machete, news outlet WVLT 8 TV reported.
The officials did not reveal the identity of the victim or further details regarding his condition. Curry and Plumely have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Their bonds were set at $5,000 each.
In 2019, a Milwaukee man was arrested after he reportedly punched and killed his 5-year-old son because the child ate a piece of his cheesecake. The man, identified as 29-year-old Travis Stackhouse, was reportedly upset after his three children ate the cheesecake he had got for Father’s Day. He told police he punched his son in the stomach after the boy ate the last piece he had kept for himself.
A medical examination revealed that the child suffered a ruptured stomach, bruised kidneys, and a torn adrenal gland. An autopsy revealed that the child's death was caused by blunt force trauma to the abdomen. Stackhouse was charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of his son.
