Rooney Mara Debuts Drastic New Hairstyle [PHOTOS]
Rooney Mara, known for her role as leather-wearing Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, has updated her look for a role in a new film with blonde hair extensions.
Gone are the raven locks, pale skin and piercings. Rooney Mara debuted brunette and blonde ombre hair, a fresh face and a preppy wardrobe for her role in The Bitter Pill. Her hair is one of the more strikingly different features, as it is long, full and wavy; a stark contrast from the cropped, geometrical hairstyle she sported just months ago.
Mara was photographed on Tuesday morning heading to the set of the film in New York City.
The film, which will be released in 2013, is about a woman who turns to prescription medication as a way of handling her husband's release from prison. The 26-year-old actress will star alongside Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Rooney Mara gained mega media attention when she debuted herself as Lisbeth Salander for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She instantly became Hollywood's next-big-thing, with her porcelain skin, cropped hair and svelte physique.
The beautiful young actress even stirred some controversy.
One of the posters for the film showed Mara topless, showing off a nipple ring.
There's a certain way people are used to seeing nude women, and that's in a submissive, coy pose, not looking at the camera, Mara told Vogue before the release. And in this poster, I'm looking dead into the camera with no expression on my face. I think it freaks a lot of people out.
Rooney Mara is no stranger to beauty transformations.
Before starring in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Mara had a small role in the big 2010 Hollywood-hit, The Social Network. She played Erica Albright, a fictitious Boston University student who dated Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. For the role, Mara was dressed in conservative, New England-wear - chunky sweaters, jeans and long, unkempt hair.
