'The Royals' TV Series Now Out On DVD And Digital HD
E! Online has announced the release of season 1 of “The Royals” on DVD and Digital HD. The network’s first-ever scripted series completed 10 episodes in its first season and is due to return for season 2 in November.
E! Online released a video teaser sharing the good news on the show’s official website. Fans of the show can now relive all of the intrigue and drama before the second season airs this fall. The show is E! Entertainment Network Television’s first venture into producing an original scripted series.
The official program summary shared by IMDb describes the show as a “drama about a fictional British Royal Family set in modern day London, who inhabit a world of opulence and regal tradition that caters to any and every desire, but one that also comes with a price tag of duty, destiny and intense public scrutiny.”
The show stars British actress Elizabeth Hurley as Queen Helena. William Moseley and Alexandra Park play the roles of Prince Liam and Princess Eleanor. The family is headed by King Simon (Vincent Regan), who unfortunately met his demise in Season 1. His brother Cyrus (Jake Maskall) has ascended to the throne, but not after a lot of scheming, violence and drama.
The show started with a portrayal of the scandalous lifestyle of a fictional modern-day Royal Family. King Simon announces his plan to abolish the Monarchy and this does not go down well with his wife or his brother. The pair schemes to go against the King’s wishes and the Prince and Princess are caught in the crossfire.
The Prince and Princess deal with their own personal issues while they also try to figure out what they really want to do with their position in the Monarchy. When King Simon is killed in a violent attack, Prince Liam vows to avenge his father's death. Meanwhile, Princess Eleanor has made it her mission to find out what really happened to their deceased older brother.
Season 2 opens with Cyrus on the throne. The first trailer shows him enjoying his new position but Queen Helena is already plotting to get her own way. The children are also determined to learn the truth about their family and go against the new king.
“The Royals” is scheduled to return for its second season in November, only on E!.
