The release date for the Samsung Galaxy S3, one of the most highly anticipated smartphones set to be hit the market this year, is still a coveted company secret, but the new Android smartphone was spotted on Amazon.de as available for preordering on Saturday.

Although the listing did not include a release date, the post provides new clues regarding what we can expect from the new smartphone on May 3.

The listing, first spotted by German website BestBoyz.de, has already been taken down at Amazon.de. It described the Samsung smartphone Galaxy S3 as having a 4.7-inch (11.9-centimeter) Super Amoled screen, 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 12-megapixel camera. The smartphone is listed as costing a whopping €599 (almost $800). It is unknown whether Amazon accidentally revealed information it meant to be safeguarding or the listing was simply untrue.

Speculation about the Samsung Galaxy S3 is rampant, but many people expect the new smartphone will be unveiled to the press on May 3. Invitations to the event released last week simply said to come and meet the next Galaxy. Samsung also claimed last week that all of the supposedly leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S3 so far have been not even close to the actual smartphone.

A video leaked online recently that was quickly taken down displayed someone using what they claimed was a preproduction model of the Samsung Galaxy S3. According to the video, the phone will have a 4.6-inch screen with high-definition resolution of 1280 x 720p. The smartphone shown was also running on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) software, included a 1.4-GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage (this last specification is supported by the Amazon.de listing).
