Samsung Electronics is not releasing its foldable smartphone to the public until early next year, but a new report claims the tech company could be unveiling the device during its developers’ conference in the United States this week.

Citing industry watchers, Yonhap reported Tuesday that Samsung is possibly unveiling details about its upcoming foldable phone during the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco on Wednesday and Thursday.

The event is expected to shed light on Samsung’s latest and upcoming technologies, so it won’t be surprising if the rumored Galaxy F would make an appearance there. However, a working prototype is unlikely to show up at the conference.

Industry watchers claimed that a working prototype is unlikely to be showcased because the event will focus on software development. However, details of the upcoming handset could be presented at the conference since Samsung already shared online an image of a folded “Samsung” logo, seemingly hinting at the Galaxy F.

When Samsung disclosed its third-quarter earnings report in October, the South Korea giant noted that it is going to showcase phones with foldable displays and 5G network technology at an appropriate time.

According to Korea Herald, Samsung is expected to introduce its foldable phone at CES 2019 in January, or at the Mobile World Congress in February. Samsung has yet to confirm anything about the device’s debut event. Perhaps it would do so at the conference this week.

Based on circulating reports and leaks, Samsung’s foldable phone will likely boast a display of 7.3 inches when it is not folded. As what IBTimes previously reported, Samsung and Google are creating a special version of Android that’s designed to work well on the Galaxy F’s foldable display.

Meanwhile, the tech giant is going to showcase its plans for its Bixby artificial intelligence program during the Samsung Developer Conference, alongside details of the Galaxy Home, which is the company’s first AI speaker. Samsung has also prepared presentations for Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, and Samsung DeX at the event.
