Sarah Ferguson is in hot water due to a social media post.

On Friday, Ferguson took to Instagram and praised the staff and customers, as well as the atmosphere at the Marriott hotel. "Staff and customer service excellent .. atmosphere superb, very comfortable, a great place for a stay in Athens @marriotthotels #athens #greece," she wrote in the caption.

However, her post did not sit well with her followers. Many questioned the timing of the post as it was shared in the wake of a Greek fire.

"Wild fires killing scores only a few miles from here and all she can talk about is the luxury hotel...glad to see her judgement has improved," one follower commented sarcastically.

"Great Sarah, in this tragic moment, Athens needs a lot of advertising," another one commented.

"Your post smacks slightly of an advertisement for Marriott Hotels and as such your motivation to say this makes me wonder if you weren't paid to make this statement. not cool especially in your position," another user wrote.

"Why post this in the circumstances...? #badtaste #awkward," another follower posted.

While a number criticized Ferguson for sharing such post, there were also followers who understood her and supported her. These followers believed that the Duchess of York did not intend to offend anyone with her post.

"I honestly don't understand how many people could think this post shows a lack of tact towards Greek people: Sarah clearly expressed her closeness to Greece some days ago, in a very respectful post, she was the first to do it!," another follower wrote in defense to Ferguson."Now, she's gone to Greece and supports this beautiful country promoting its tourism which is an essential source of income for the whole nation."

"I hope you whiny critics realize you are only drawing negative attention to yourselves. Sarah was trying to point out something positive. Shame on you negative nancys," one user added.

Just recently, fans praised Ferguson for showing sympathy to all families who suffered from the fire in Greece. She also recognized the Greek people who have been working tirelessly in such difficult circumstance.

Ferguson is expected to make a royal comeback at Princess Eugenie's big day. The Duchess is reportedly very involved in the planning of the next royal wedding.
