Sarah Ferguson Reportedly Received Huge Divorce Settlement Amount After Prince Andrew Split
Sarah Ferguson didn’t demand anything following her divorce from Prince Andrew, but she still received a huge settlement.
The Duke and Duchess of York divorced in 1996 after 10 years of marriage. Ferguson admitted that she didn’t ask for anything following their split and only wanted to remain friends with Queen Elizabeth II.
Despite Ferguson’s reluctance, she received a huge financial divorce settlement. According to the Sunday Telegraph, she received $644,000 from the Queen for a new house, a $1.8 million trust fund for Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie and $451,000 in cash.
The agreement also included Prince Andrew paying for his daughters’ private school, university fees and a provision of a modest monthly allowance.
Despite their split, Ferguson and Prince Andrew remain friends. In fact, they are still seen together from time to time.
In June 2018, the exes were spotted with their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice, on Ascot Day. The trio was photographed laughing, and Ferguson shared the snap on Instagram, where she called her ex-husband “family.”
In an interview, Ferguson recalled why their marriage didn’t work. According to her, they rarely saw each other. For seven years, she only saw Prince Andrew for 40 days out of the year, and it had been difficult for her. She felt abandoned, but both agreed that they didn’t fight hard enough for their marriage.
Ferguson said that at the time, their relationship was the “greatest ever.” She recognized the fact that their relationship is difficult to comprehend as it’s not normal, but for her, it’s their “fairytale” and they are telling it their way.
Due to Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s amicable relationship, their fans are hoping that they would rekindle their romance. In fact, a number of fans have urged the duchess to remarry the Duke of York. Ferguson’s fans wanted to see a royal wedding this year for the Duke and Duchess of York.
Prince Andrew and Ferguson’s marriage ended following the duchess’ toegate scandal. The Duchess of York was photographed with her American financial advisor, John Bryan, sucking her toes.
Royal experts slammed Ferguson for the incident. Royal author Penny Junor believed it was the reason for the couple’s divorce.
“She was at Balmoral when those photographs came out. The family came down for breakfast and there was Fergie in this shocking scene and that was the end,” Junor said.
