KEY POINTS
- Sarah Ferguson struggled with her mental health.
- Sarah Ferguson wanted to become unlovable.
- The Duchess of York self-sabotaged.
Sarah Ferguson reached a very low point in her life decades ago.
While speaking with Vogue Arabia, the Duchess of York shared how the constant media scrutiny that she received impacted her mental health and well-being.
“I eventually self-sabotaged. I didn’t think of the ramifications of my actions. I was at the bottom of the barrel. It was almost as if I wanted to be unlovable. But when I was at the bottom I wrote the book, Finding Sarah,” she said.
Shortly after, Prince Andrew’s ex-wife also released a six-episode mental health series of the same title. She also spoke with Oprah Winfrey about her mental health.
Years after coping with her issues, Fergie has reached a point where she now feels free.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of York also likened herself to Meghan Markle during the interview. The mom of two said that she can relate to the Duchess of Sussex because she had been in her shoes years ago.
Ferguson said that Markle was famous before she joined the royal family and this makes her great. But what she doesn’t understand is why the public doesn’t want to celebrate her greatness. Instead, she’s being criticized for it.
But when asked to give Markle a piece of advice, Ferguson refused to do so for fear that her words could be taken out of context. Prince Andrew’s ex-wife said that she abhors bullying, and she’s sorry for the pain that Markle and Prince Harry are going through because she’s been through it as well.
In related news, Ferguson reportedly has a close relationship with the Sussexes. And Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s mom will always be grateful to the royal couple because they decided to invite her to their royal wedding last year.
But when Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot in 2011, the Cambridges decided to not invite Fergie to their nuptials. However, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, and Princess Eugenie were there.
