'Scandal' Fans React To Kerry Washington Golden Globe Awards Snub For 'Best Actress In TV Series Drama'
"Scandal" fans were shocked when Kerry Washington lost best actress in a TV series drama to Robin Wright on Sunday night at the Golden Globe Awards. Washington has been outstanding as Olivia Pope in the hit political series, which debuted in April 2012. In 2013, "Scandal" achieved a series-high with 10.52 million viewers during its season three premiere.
Washington won the NAACP Image Award in 2013 for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series. Since then, she has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, but lost to Claire Danes.
The 36-year-old beauty, who stunned in a white, form-fitting Balenciaga gown, was “snubbed” again, after being nominated at the Golden Globe awards for best actress in a TV series drama. Robin Wright of "House of Cards" won in the category.
Fans were quick to react to Washinton’s second loss on Twitter, with @brownbeauty25 writing, “Not surprised @kerrywashington didn't win last night at the #GoldenGlobes it's nothing new....they always robbing the good actresses anyway!”
@WldensSenior17 said, "Ok now I'm ready to give my opinions on the golden globes...Kerry Washington should have won!”
“@kerrywashington @goldenglobes woooow #KerryWashington didnt get it. I knew I didnt want to watch it. Thats crazy #GoldenGlobes really?!? [sic]” wrote @Realitychick948.
While she may not have won the coveted award at the Golden Globe Awards, the "Scandal" star said her baby bump is her “best accessory” and jokingly said it was “the best date of the night.” She glowed on the red carpet Sunday night, and in October, it was confirmed that Washington was pregnant with her first child. In July, the actress first shocked fans when she married San Fracisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha in Idaho. He has since retired as an Oakland Raider, following an 11-year NFL career. The two had been dating secretly for a year.
