Scarlett Johansson Welcomes First Child With Fiance Romain Dauriac, Names Daughter ‘Rose’
Actress Scarlett Johansson and her fiancé, Romain Dauriac, welcomed their first child, a baby girl, a representative for the “Lucy” star confirmed Thursday. The couple has reportedly named their daughter Rose.
The 29-year-old actress and Dauriac, who is a French journalist, got engaged in September 2013, and the news of Johansson's pregnancy surfaced in March. The award-winning actress’ publicist Marcel Pariseau told The Associated Press that the “mother and daughter are doing well.”
Pariseau also reportedly said that the new parents are supporters of the “No Kids Policy" in Hollywood, a celebrity effort to keep the children of famous people out of the public eye and away from paparazzi, and are seeking complete privacy for their daughter. Johansson herself avoided the spotlight during her pregnancy.
According to E! News, Johansson and Dauriac had been holding back their wedding until their first child was born.
"She is telling friends that she is not getting married until after the baby," a source told E! News last month.
During a January appearance on “Good Morning America,” Johansson, who was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds, reportedly revealed that marriage was “far off” in the future, but added that she wanted to have a baby just one month prior to her wedding.
"I would like to have my own family, that would be nice. They say it's never the right time, and I am sure that's true, but I think you have to plan it like anything else," she reportedly said.
"At some point it is something I look forward to," she went on, adding: "I am fortunate in that I have had a long career—20 years—that has been very diverse. So, you know, picking a time to plan a family feels like something that I could do and not feel as though I was missing out."
Johansson and Dauriac reportedly went public about their relationship in November 2012.
