Scarlett Johansson’s Candid Confessions About Divorce: Admits ‘Depression’ and ‘Over-Critical’ Attitude
Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has always remained tight-lipped about the turbulences in her private life. However, in a rare moment of confession about the reasons for her divorce with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, she spoke about her present mental state and hidden secrets.
The couple separated at the end of 2010 and finally divorced in July 2011. The split, quite obviously, had a visible effect on Johansson, who spoke about the very difficult time her relationship went through.
The actress has been trying to get her life back together, with the support of her twin brother and grandmother; something that hasn't been easy, given the degree of mental trauma and disturbance.
I was quite depressed, but after about a week or so I pulled myself (together), said Johansson, in an interview with a German magazine, GALA.
She refused, however, to discuss the specific reason for the divorce, saying that those were too personal. She did add that she had realized that she could be overcritical - with myself and with other people. And I don't compromise... I pass judgment on people quite quickly.
If I don't agree with someone or if I'm annoyed I will tell people to their face - no matter how hurtful that might be, Johansson added.
In a report in The Sun, she was quoted as admitting that this aspect of her nature had gotten her into trouble, from time to time and it was usually her friends and family who pulled her out of the mess.
My friends have to hold me back and say, 'Scarlett, you can't say that!' I'm also incredibly impatient - regarding my job, my family and men. I want things to progress. I hate stagnation! the actress added.
On the positive side, Johansson feels that she is lucky enough to have a few close girlfriends who have been by her side for years, along with her incredibly sweet, lovely and wise grandmother and twin brother.
I can talk to them about anything and confide in, said Johansson, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicles.
The Brit bombshell recently dated Sean Penn but is enjoying being single for some time.
Right now I don't feel the need to date anyone. I enjoy being single too much, she clarified.
However, Reynolds and Johansson continue to share an amicable relationship, despite the divorce but anyone who gets divorced goes through a lot of pain... I don't think I want to get married again, said Reynolds, on a talk show, a month after the couple parted ways.
