“I want you guys to know that you matter and that your experiences are a huge part of the American story,” Gomez said (via Entertainment Tonight). “When my family came here from Mexico they set into motion my American story, as well as theirs. I'm a proud third-generation American-Mexican and my family's journey and their sacrifices helped me get me to where I am today.”
The “Boyfriend” singer continued by reminding them that regardless of where their family is from or their “immigration status,” they successfuly earned themselves an education, make their families proud and open up new worlds.
“I’m sending all of my love to you guys today and congratulations and I hope that you guys are set off to be everything that you want to be,” Gomez continued.
Just like Gomez, Brad Pitt also sent a message to the graduates from Missouri State University. The "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" actor started his video by saying that he was honored to deliver the message to the new graduates who can make the future brighter.
He also reminded them that the nation is rooting for them.
“Hi everyone! Brad here from quarantine, with a shout-out to the graduating class of Missouri State University! Yeah! It must be very strange doing this in these trying times but know we are rooting for you. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” Pitt said.
“So, you did it! You made it! Enjoy, congrats again, and think big,” he added.
