Selena Gomez has finally reacted to Netflix’s "Selena: The Series." The songstress shared a post on her Instagram account, letting her fans know what she thinks of the series about Selena Quintanilla, the music icon Gomez was named after.
The 28-year-old singer and actress took to her Instagram story on Tuesday to post a review of "Selena: The Series" that was released on the streaming giant last week. The coming-of-age show details the life of “Queen of Tejano music” and her struggles on the way to her success.
Posting short clips about her review, Gomez said she has been “binge-watching the show.”
“It's so good," says the “Lose You To Love Me” hitmaker in one of the clips.
She goes on to reveal the 80s star is an “inspiration” to her and she gets her name from Quintanilla.
“She's such an inspiration. I was named after her and it's unbelievable,” Gomez says on the Instagram story.
The nine-part biographical drama documents the life of the American singer and fashion designer who went on to become one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. Quintanilla was a top-selling Latin artist of her time and a superstar who introduced Tejano music into the mainstream.
Tragically enough, her glorious life and career met with an untimely end when she was fatally shot in the year 1995 by her manager Yolanda Saldivar over a dispute.
The new Netflix series has become an instant hit among the streaming platform users. Starring Christian Serratos in the titular role, the show is set to return for its second season. Serratos and other cast members have already wrapped up filming for “Part 2” of “Selena: The Series.”
Speaking with The Oprah Magazine, Serratos revealed what the next season looks like.
“Our second part we're going to see a lot more of the icon," she said. "I had a lot more to base the performance on—but it was nerve-racking because people know that Selena so well. There was added pressure."
"Selena: The Series" Part 1 is currently streaming on Netflix.
