Jill Duggar Dillard revealed Monday that she gave her rescue dog Fenna some of her leftover breast milk.
Jill took to Instagram Saturday to share a snap of her dog drinking milk from a bowl. In the caption, the former "19 Kids and Counting On" star shared that it was her last bottle of breast milk that she had pumped nearly two years ago and left in the freezer, and her 3-year-old son Samuel had asked to try it.
"I’ve had my last teeny bottle of breast milk in the freezer for nearly a couple years now (both my boys stopped breastfeeding around 2 years old and Sam is almost 4 now!). I know I know...it’s probably a freezer-burnt nutrition-less substance now..." she wrote in the caption.
Jill went on to say that she had thawed it out and that it didn't look or smell bad. According to the reality star, Samuel didn't like it after taking "a couple of sips," so she decided to feed the remainder to her dog Fenna.
"Needless to say, now all 3 of my children have now had breast milk," Jill joked.
The reality star, who shares Samuel and Israel David, 6, with husband Derick Dillard, added that she's "sentimental" over using up the last of her breast milk.
"Anyone else feel sentimental about their 'liquid gold'?" she asked. "Whoever coined the phrase, 'no use crying over spilled milk' certainly never pumped!"
The "Counting On" alum also assured her followers and potential critics that her dog was just fine after drinking the breast milk.
"Also, before any of you jump on me for feeding it to the dog, she’s fine. She’s totally fine. I wouldn’t have given it to her if i thought it would make her sick. So just chill mkay?!" Jill concluded her post, along with a peace sign emoji.
Some of Jill's followers said they can relate to her post and approved of her decision to give her leftover breast milk to her dog instead of throwing it away.
"She’ll be the healthiest dog on the block now," one commented.
"What a great idea for a treat for fenna!" another added.
"This! Dogs eat poo and who knows what else... I wouldn't worry if someone gets on you for giving it to your dog! He's your baby too!" a third user wrote.
Jill and her husband adopted Fenna in February. They shared a video of themselves and their children visiting an animal shelter and picking out their new dog.
"After being cooped up for a while with the big winter storm and school still out for Israel, we decided to go visit some animals at the shelter!" the couple captioned the video.
Jill and Derick revealed in a YouTube video in March that they named the dog Fenna, which was apparently a Dutch girl's name meaning "peace."
