Serena Williams Confirms Pregnancy On Snapchat
Serena Williams will be leaving the tennis court for a while due to pregnancy. The number one women tennis player in the world already confirmed this.
On Wednesday, Williams posted a photo of her in a yellow bathing suit on her Snapchat story. The athlete sported a baby bump and captioned the photo with “20 weeks.” However, the expectant mom later deleted it. The photo is still accessible online as some were able to get a screenshot of it.
Williams’ spokeswoman Kelly Bush Novak confirmed that the tennis player will miss the rest of the 2017 season, but the athlete is planning to return to the circuit in 2018. “Serena said that I should make sure if anyone asks that that is clear,” Novak said in an interview on Wednesday, The New York Times reported.

Williams’ fellow tennis players are overjoyed with her baby news. “I’m elated for her; I’ve seen her with our son, and she will be a great mother,” said Andy Roddick, former men’s world number one, who is a good friend of Williams since childhood. “Getting married and having a child is a special journey. She, to me, is more than ready for this lifestyle change. It’s been 20 years on tour,” said Chris Evert, also former number one.
Williams’ pregnancy news was the second big news from the popular tennis player. In December last year, many were also surprised when she announced that she’s already engaged to Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian.
On December 29 last year, Williams shared on Reddit, in a thread titled “I Said Yes,” how Ohanian proposed to her. “I came home / A little late / Someone had a bag packed for me / And a carriage awaited / Destination: Rome / To escort me to my very own ‘charming’ / Back to where our stars first collide / And now it was full circle / At the same table we first met by chance / This time he made it not by chance / But by choice / Down on one knee / He said 4 words / And / isaidyes,” she wrote.
