Shakira Flaunts Weight Loss For Self Magazine: Reveals How She Got Her Post-Baby Body Back [PHOTO]
Shakira is showing off the results of hard work in the gym and healthy eating on the latest cover of Self magazine. In a black tank top and shorts, the new mother reveals toned abs and shares how she got them back.
The 36-year-old gave birth to Milan Pique Mebarak on Jan. 22 and admitted earlier this year -- to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres -- that after giving birth, she was afraid of not being sexy anymore. “At first, it's hard to deal with your image in the mirror. I was like ‘Oh, my God, am I ever going to be sexy again? Is my man ever going to be attracted to me again the way he used to be?’ All these feelings that you deal with, all these fears that come to you.”
Shakira is dating FC Barcelona soccer player Gerad Pique. The two met in 2010 after he was featured in the music video for her South Africa World Cup theme song “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).”
But she is certainly proving that she is still hot, and tells Self that exercise was key in getting back into shape. "I did Zumba throughout my pregnancy," Shakira said. "That helped me not gain too much weight." After her son was born, she continued training with Zumba creator Beto Perez for one week, and did four to five morning workouts a week.
Now, she is seemingly happy with the results, and one body part in particular. “I’m quite proud of my rear,” Shakira says. In order to ensure results, she incorporated cardio dance moves, in addition to a regiment of running and using the elliptical machine. Moreover, the Columbian beauty changed her eating habits, consuming eight small meals a day.
And though she has her body back, Shakira admits to having imperfections, but she stays positive. “I don't obsess over my flaws, because I see my body as a whole. Besides, I think men appreciate confidence more than perfection."
