Shark Week 2019 TV Schedule: Monday July 29 Lineup Released
Shark Week 2019 is swimming along now. Discovery Channel’s big programming event started last night, and it’ll continue tonight with even bigger specials. Check out the Shark Week schedule for Monday, July 29:
“Laws of Jaws: Sharkmania” (7 p.m. EDT) Expert divers Liz Parkinson, Mike Dornellas and Nick LeBeouf recreate real-life shark encounters to see if humans are the cause for some attacks. The special, which debuted last year, will likely include some new fun facts to make it a “sharkmania” edition.
“Sharks of the Badlands” (8 p.m. EDT) White sharks are appearing off Cape Cod. This year alone brought in 150 sightings and the first deadly white shark attack in 80 years. Marine biologist Greg Skomal, cinematographer Andy Casagrande and shark expert Kina Scollay go to New Zealand to test new shark detecting surveillance, hoping to bring it back to Cape Cod. Anomaly Entertainment produces this special.
“Legend of Deep Blue” (9 p.m. EDT) Shark experts Brandon McMillan and Jimi Partington go to Guadalupe Island to find Deep Blue. At nearly 21 feet long and over 2 and a half tons, she’s thought to be the largest great white shark in the world. Tracking her down might unravel the mysteries of deep-sea mega sharks. Anomaly Entertainment produces this special.
“The Sharks of Headstone Hell” (10 p.m. EDT) Norfolk Island is a small area in the middle of the South Pacific, and it held one of the harshest penal colonies at the end of the 18th century. Today, however, it is where some of the largest tiger sharks on earth gather. Full-size animal carcasses are regularly tossed into the sea by the islanders, and that raises some questions for shark scientist Riley Elliot. Has this practice completely changed the behavior of the tiger sharks? Will attacks be more likely after this feeding frenzy is outlawed? Icon Films produces the special.
“Shark After Dark” (11 p.m. EDT) Host Rob Riggle returns alongside DJ and Producer Jauz. Monday night’s Shark Week aftershow guests include “Shark Tank” entrepreneur Mark Cuban and cinematographer Andy Casagrande, who has filmed many Shark Week specials, including “Sharks of the Badlands.”
