Shibarium, the layer 2 solution first proposed by Shiba Inu's pseudonymous creator Ryoshi, will launch soon, according to lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, but the community thinks its release is imminent since the Unification upgrade is set to happen next month. Shiba Army is hopeful that with the L2 solution's launch, the community will see the true power of the dog-themed altcoin.

Unification/xFund, the on-chain governance and access token for the Unification Oracle of Oracles and other DeFi products, handles the development of the Shiba Inu layer 2. Some holders spotted that the Unification FUND mainet upgrade is scheduled to go live on June 8, which could be a potential date for the release of the Shibarium.

"The process for upgrading MainNet will be the same as TestNet, but it will be mandatory for all validators to run the upgrade at the specified upgrade time," Unification Foundation said in a blog post. The process includes the creation of a governance proposal outlining the time and date of the upgrade, voting of the proposal and the execution of the upgrade if the proposal passes.

"Shibarium, which will be the premium L2 for the Shib token community, & in partnership with the Shib Army, enabling rapid low-cost transactions optimized for gaming," xFUND said, describing one of the many benefits of the Layer 2 solution. "The project TestNet is planned to launch within the next months with a public beta to follow shortly thereafter," the team added.

Kusama previously said that the community would "really see the power of SHIB" after the launch of Shibarium. The lead developer noted that as Shiba Inu gets more recognition, it should "continue to grow."

"According to our partners at Xfund, we are weeks or a few months away," Kusama said a few weeks ago through Shiba Turkiye Telegram. It is worth noting that Shibarium has no official release date yet and the date mentioned above is the schedule of the mainet upgrade of the Unification/xFUND.

SHIB was trading 1.96% at $0.00001191 with a 24-hour volume of $342,259,414 as of 7:01 p.m. ET on Sunday, based on data from CoinMarketCap.
