A 6-year-old boy woke up to find a 3-foot long snake biting him in bed. The incident took place in Darwin, Australia, on Monday.

According to reports, the boy did not scream or run away when he spotted the snake attached to his leg, instead he decided to fight it off. Ben Gorman grabbed the snake and "bravely" threw it at a wall.

“I didn’t scream, I was so brave,” the boy told local NT News, adding that he decided to fight off of the snake as he knew he had to save his younger brother who shares the room with. “I was holding on to it so tight, I think I figured out if it was venomous and I threw it at the mirror in our bedroom,” Ben said.

Ben’s mother, Micha, told local media that she had seen what she thought was a sock in her bed earlier in the evening.

“He gently woke me up and said ‘mum I’ve been bitten by a snake but it’s ok, I’ve thrown it against the wall, you better go get Lachy,’” Ben's mother said. When she went to her sons' room, all she could see was "a black tail slithering over the top of their toy box.”

Ben's mother immediately called for help and a snake catcher arrived at their home to remove the snake from the boy’s room. The snake catcher identified the reptile as a slaty-grey. Ben was taken to a hospital and treated for two snake bites.
