‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Season 14 Spoilers: Kaylee Millis, Koine Iwasaki Head To Academy
“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 14 introduced a new set of dancers on Monday night’s episode.
The auditions, which were held in New York sometime last year, saw Kaylee Millis and Koine Iwasaki each getting a ticket to the Academy. Clips from the two dancers’ auditions were released by FOX ahead of this week’s installment. The teenagers were joined by Ana Sanchez, 23, from Cali Colombia. The salsa dancer also impressed judges Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy and Vanessa Hudgens so she’s advancing to the next round.
Joseph Carella, 25, and Huwer Marche, 26, from New York also made it to the Academy, but not without a bit of suspense from the judges. It took the three celebrities some time to decide if they will give them a ticket or not.
On the other hand, Chaz Wolcott, 29, instantly made an impact on viewers even before he performed his routine. During his interview with “So You Think You Can Dance” host Cat Deeley, Chaz appeared to be very put together. When Deeley commended him, he joked about putting on a show just like everyone in the competition. The tap dancer also made it to the Academy.
Ryan Bailey, 23, received mixed reviews from the judges. Murphy instantly fell in love with his routine, while Lythgoe was a bit hesitant about giving him a ticket. In the end, they both decided to give him a chance. It’s also suggested that he attends more professional training to improve his technique. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Darius Reed, 24. The New Jersey native did not make the cut after Hudgens noted that she’s seen others do better than him.
A series of montages were also shown on Monday night’s episode. A group of hip-hop dancers were introduced, but it’s unclear which ones made it to the academy. Towards the end of the episode, a montage of contemporary dancers were also shown, but the names of those who made it to the Academy were not directly revealed.
“So You Think You Can Dance” Season 14 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
