After several months of wait and anticipation, Sony finally unveiled the final design of its next generation gaming console, the PS5. The official unveiling happened at the last part of the PS5 event following the announcement of games releasing on the gaming console. Interestingly, the internet could not help but liken Sony’s upcoming console with many things, just like it did when Microsoft revealed the Xbox Series X.

Official PS5 Design

Sony officially unveiled the final design of the PS5 at its latest digital event. The Japanese gaming console maker unveiled the DualSense controller a few weeks earlier and it looks like its color and design complement to that of Sony’s next generation gaming console. The PS5 hardware is sleek and clean with the black and white color combination.

The design is indeed that of a future generation--smart and chic. Unfortunately, it is also meme-worthy to the delight of fans and gamers online. Unsurprisingly, minutes after the official unveiling, the internet responded to the official design reveal by doing what it excels at—making amazing and funny memes based on the PS5’s design. Sadly, Sony ended the event without revealing the price of its gaming console.

PS5 Memes

On Twitter, Tom Warren, senior editor of The Verge, shared some of the PS5 memes. Gamespot’s Senior Social Producer Ashley Oh meanwhile likened the PS5 to a villain’s headquarters. Others equated Sony’s upcoming console to a building, duck’s bill, even to the Pope’s Tiara.

Other PS5 Details

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan previously assured fans that the PS5 is still on track for its holiday 2020 release. Following the digital event earlier, the executive said that the games shown were just the start of a long and impressive list of games releasing on the platform. Ryan was also positive that, despite the current global health crisis, the PS5 could pull off its projected sales.
