'Space Jam 2': Klay Thompson Spotted Arriving To Set Despite ACL Injury
The NBA Finals proved to be a rough spot for the Golden State Warriors, who saw stars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson go down to injury before losing to the Toronto Raptors. However, it doesn’t look like an injury is going to stop Klay Thompson from joining LeBron James for “Space Jam 2.”
James took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce production on the sequel to the 1996 film was officially underway. And it didn’t take long for set photos to emerge, with fellow NBA stars Damian Lillard and Anthony Davis on set.
Then there’s Klay Thompson, who was spotted arriving on set supported by crutches.
For anyone unaware, Thompson went down in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals with an ACL tear. This was after Kevin Durant went down earlier in Game 5, going down due to a full achilles tear that has already taken Durant out of the 2019/2020 season. These two injuries seemed to seal Golden State’s fate, which lost the game and NBA Championship to the Toronto Raptors.
Despite the injury, Thompson appeared active on set and was able to move around in a limited capacity to get the necessary shots. Sources at the shoot indicated that the scene was an all-star game, though there’s no sign of any monsters or aliens.
“Space Jam 2” is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021 and is one of the first big projects from LeBron James’ development deal with Warner Bros. that will see the NBA star produce films and shows for the studio.
