'Star Wars: Episode 9': No Trailer At D23, But Costume Display Expected
There was a lot of expectation that the next trailer of “Star Wars: Episode 9” will be released this weekend at Disney’s D23 event. However, that may not happen, and fans may have to wait until October to see another sneak peek of the film.
While the “Star Wars” live-action TV series “The Mandalorian” is getting a panel discussion, there has been no announcement of JJ Abrams leading a team to the D23 event. According to CBR, there may not be a trailer release of the upcoming film this weekend.
In the past, the trailer of a major “Star Wars” film that has a December release date was shown only in October. If Disney continues to follow this rule, then there may not be any video from the Abrams’ film this weekend.
However, this does not mean that the fans will not get to see anything at the event. While there may not be a video reveal, there could always be costumes from “Star Wars: Episode 9” that may be there on display.
The Sith Troopers are the new unit being introduced in the upcoming film. The costume of these soldiers may be displayed at the D23 event, along with the costumes of some of the other major characters featured in the movie.
The introduction of the Sith Troopers is important because it marks a course-correction for Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), after he wanted to let go of all old ways in “The Last Jedi,” Screen Rant reported. The return to the red armor that should remind fans of the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid), the use of the name Sith, and the expected return of Darth Vader’s helmet suggest that the character is going back to who he was in “Force Awakens.”
The past will also be important for Rey (Daisy Ridley), as she continues to train to become a Jedi. According to a theory by Screen Rant she will have a vision of the past to see what actually happened during the massacre of the new Jedi Academy.
“Star Wars: Episode 9” will be about the final fight between The First Order and the Resistance, while an old threat of the Emperor surfaces. The film will be released on Dec. 20.
