'Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker' Breaks Record For First-Hour Ticket Pre-Sales, Surpasses 'Avengers: Endgame'
Ticket pre-sales for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” quickly broke records after the premiere of the final trailer Monday night.
The news came from ticket outlet Atom Tickets, who opened ticket pre-sales for “The Rise of Skywalker” shortly before the trailer premiered during "Monday Night Football." This was earlier than expected, as Disney had said tickets would go on pre-sale right after the trailer premiered. Pre-sales quickly surpassed “Avengers: Endgame” by 45%, which had broken the previous record earlier in 2019.
The news means Disney owns the top five spots on Atom Tickets with the best first hour sales, which according to SlashFilm, are:
- “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”
- “Avengers: Endgame”
- “Avengers: Infinity War”
- “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”
- “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”
The final trailer has also left social media in a frenzy with varied reactions to the trailer across the board.
Disney added fuel to the fire with a new poster that released shortly after the trailer, teasing more of what’s to come in “The Rise of Skywalker.”
But if that wasn’t enough “Star Wars,” there is still a new game and show on the way to keep fans satiated until Dec. 20. “The Mandalorian” will be premiere on Nov. 12 on Disney+ and will follow the titular bounty hunter five years after “Return of the Jedi.” Gamers will also be able to experience life as a Jedi in hiding after Order 66 in “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” releasing Nov. 15 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows.
“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” opens in theaters Dec. 20.
