KEY POINTS
- Terry Crews reflected on the crisis that almost broke his 30 years of marriage
- Rebecca King-Crews says it is important to discuss the issue to help other couples
- Their audio memoir, "Stronger Together," was released on April 15
Terry Crews got candid about his addiction to pornography in the new Amazon Audible audiobook, "Stronger Together," which he recorded with his wife, Rebecca King-Crews.
The couple appeared on the "PEOPLE Every Day" podcast on Wednesday and agreed to discuss their private life details to help other couples facing similar crises.
"We discovered there was a whole industry around this problem because porn has become the new drug. It's become the new addiction," Rebecca told host Zoe Ruderman.
"Success is the warmest place to hide," Terry admitted. "Fame made it worse! Hollywood didn't care. It still doesn't care if you lose your family. It happens every day."
Last month, Terry appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and joked that the audiobook should have been titled "Mistakes Were Made, Mostly By Me."
"With porn and alcohol and different things like that, people think it's a willpower issue, but it's not. It's literally a lack of information issue. Because the trick is you think it's great. Everything works for you until it doesn't, and that was one of the things I really wanted to get out," Terry told Kimmel.
"I am focused on just improving, but this is the problem: You're not allowed to do that. Everything gets you canceled, but I realized the only way to really grow is to try, and make your mistakes on the fly," Terry added.
The actor also disclosed the reason for including his wife in the audiobook.
"When both of us tell the story at the same time it's like watching it in 3-D because there's two different perspectives," he said. "We got to let people know what this is like, that you are stronger together. That you are better off, if you can make it work, try."
Terry will feature in the upcoming animated sports movie "Rumble," which is scheduled to release in February next year. The comedy animation is helmed by Hamish Grieve and also stars Will Arnett, Geraldine Viswanathan, Joe "Roman Reigns" Anoa'i and Tony Danza.
