‘Suits’ Season 6 Spoilers: Harvey Reconnects With His Mom In Episode 12 Trailer

Harvey (Gabriel Macht) pays his mom a visit in next week’s episode of “Suits.”

In the trailer for Season 6, episode 12, Harvey finally finds the courage to reconnect with his mom, Lily (Brynn Thayer), after not seeing her for seven years. “I don’t want to be angry anymore, but I don’t know how to stop,” Harvey tells his mom, who is surprised by his sudden visit.

Harvey started to bear a grudge against Lily when he found out that she has been cheating on his dad, Gordon (James McCaffrey). Lily asked Harvey, who was only 16 at the time, to keep her affair a secret. Although Harvey originally had no plans to reveal the secret, an intense boxing match with his dad led him to divulge everything he knew about his mom’s affair. Since then, members of the Specter family have been estranged from one another, and Harvey has been blaming himself for it.

Series creator Aaron Korsh told TV Guide that Harvey’s reconciliation with Lily is not going to be an easy process.

“If you ask me what he’s scarred from — obviously a child made aware of infidelity by his mother is a real scarring thing — but I think the actual scar is from asking a child to keep that secret,” Korsh said of the real origin of Harvey’s hate towards his mom. “It’s bad enough for a child to discover that, but I think giving a child the burden of keeping a secret of that nature from [their] other parent is incredibly damaging. The person you’re supposed to trust the most is putting you in a terrible position.”

In an interview with Yahoo TV, Macht said that episode 12 — which also features some flashback scenes — finds Harvey basically attempting “to make what was wrong, right.” The actor revealed that Harvey also reconnects with brother, Marcus (Billy Miller), in the episode — giving viewers more details “about where Harvey has been coming from in the last 10 years.”

“It’s a ‘two steps forward, one step back’ situation, but I think it's a pretty good story,” Macht said of the episode. “I like it. It's a different episode.”

“Suits” Season 6, episode 12, titled “The Painting,” airs on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. EST on USA Network. Watch the trailer below:
