‘Suits’ Creator Aaron Korsh Teases Donna-Specific Storyline In Season 6B [SPOILERS]

Donna (Sarah Rafferty) is getting a storyline of her own in the back six episodes of “Suits” Season 6.

In addition to helping Harvey (Gabriel Macht) figure out a way to run Pearson Specter Litt without Jessica (Gina Torres), Donna also “has a more specific storyline” in the remaining episodes of the season, series creator Aaron Korsh told TVLine.

“I think there was some fan desire for a Donna-specific storyline, and … I would like to go on record that it was already in the works,” Korsh said. “I like it when we have something in the works, and while it’s being brewed, people are demanding it. I can’t develop something and make it be on the air that quickly in response to somebody asking for it. So it really works out well when it’s already in the works.”

“Donna has a lot going on in the back six [episodes], and I will say it’s not all in the first couple episodes,” he continued. “It develops a little bit over time, and it’s probably more in the last four episodes than in the first two — though, definitely, she’s got stuff in the first two.”

While Korsh was cautious not to spill details about Donna’s new storyline, Rafferty was a bit more open to sharing information about what fans can expect from her character when the USA Network series returns from its four-month hiatus this week.

In an interview with the New York Post, Rafferty said that Donna finds herself thinking about her future in the final episodes of the season.

“She starts to question what she wants out of life and starts looking to her own personal future,” Rafferty said. “She’s questioning her sense of identity, and as she moves forward it opens up other doors for her … for some fun, surprising opportunities. And she has a really fun arc where we bring back some of the comedy.”

In the Season 4 finale, titled “Not Just A Pretty Face,” Donna told Harvey that she wanted to be an actress. Although it’s unclear why Donna didn’t pursue a career in acting, her love for theatre is often featured on the show. Could her new storyline have something to do with her dream of becoming an actress? Only time will tell.

“Suits” winter premiere (Season 6, episode 11) airs on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. EST on USA Network.
