‘Suits’ Season 6 Star Patrick J. Adams Reacts To Tatiana Maslany, Rami Malek Emmy Wins
“Orphan Black” actress Tastiana Maslany and “Mr. Robot” actor Rami Malek won their first Emmy trophies on Sunday night, and one of the many people who were happy about their achievement was “Suits” star Patrick J. Adams.
In a tweet he posted on Monday, Adams wrote that Maslany and Malek both deserved their Emmy wins.
“Finally... the world makes sense again. @tatianamaslany and @ItsRamiMalek are holding heavy statues. So well deserved. #Emmys2016,” tweeted the 35-year-old actor, who plays Mike Ross on the USA legal drama series.
Maslany won this year’s Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her multiple roles as Sarah Manning, Alison Hendrix, Cosima Niehaus, Beth Childs, Rachel Duncan and MK on BBC America’s “Orphan Black.” The 30-year-old actress was up against Claire Danes (“Homeland”) Viola Davis (“How to Get Away with Murder”), Taraji P. Henson (“Empire”), Keri Russell (“The Americans”) and Robin Wright (“House of Cards”).
Malek, on the other hand, took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Elliot Alderson on USA’s “Mr. Robot.” The 35-year-old actor beat fellow nominees Kyle Chandler (“Bloodline”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”), Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”), Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”) and Kevin Spacey (“House of Cards”).
As fans of Adams know, the actor has appeared in two episodes of “Orphan Black.” Adams made his series debut as Jesse in Season 2, Episode 6, titled “To Hound Nature in Her Wanderings," and reprised his role in Season 3, Episode 10, “History Yet to Be Written.” Jesse is the boyfriend of Maslany’s character, Helena.
While Adams has yet to earn an Emmy nod, the Canadian actor scored an SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series in 2011 for his performance on “Suits” — a recognition that he didn’t totally expect.
“I went to bed last night thinking today was going to be another day, get up and walk my dog and that would be that,” Adams told The Hollywood Reporter in 2011, recalling how he found out about his nomination. “To wake up this morning to the phone ringing off the hook, I thought what anybody would think, that something terrible had happened, the world was falling apart. Then I got the news and was just gobsmacked, breathless, speechless.”
