‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Hercules Actor Kevin Sorbo Confirms His Casting In The CW Series
Kevin Sorbo has landed a recurring role in Season 2 of “Supergirl.”
Sorbo, who rose to prominence for playing the title role in the TV franchise “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” confirmed on Twitter that he will be playing a new villain in the current season of the CW series.
Although Sorbo didn’t spill any details about his character, the 58-year-old actor revealed in his tweet that he is set to appear in three episodes. Sorbo also thanked the CW and Warner Bros. TV for giving him the opportunity to be included in the ever-growing cast of the Melissa Benoist-led series.
“Since his days as Hercules, Kevin Sorbo has brought such a strong presence to the screen, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join us on ‘Supergirl,’” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to his role as Hercules, Sorbo is also known for playing Capt. Dylan Hunt on the sci-fi series “Andromeda.”
Sorbo’s casting comes just three days after it was announced that Teri Hatcher was cast as the next Big Bad of the season. Hatcher played Lois Lane on “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.” The casting reunites her with her former onscreen Clark Kent/Superman, Dean Cain, who recurs on “Supergirl” as Kara’s (Benoist) foster father.
“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane,” Kreisberg said (via Variety) on behalf of his fellow executive producer Greg Berlanti. “To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg, and the fans.”
Both Sorbo and Hatcher’s debut episodes have yet to be announced.
An all-new episode of “Supergirl” airs on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Check out the synopsis and trailer for Season 2, episode 11, titled “The Martian Chronicles,” below:
“Armek (Terrell Tilford), a White Martian, descends on National City intent on taking M’gann (Sharon Leal) back to Mars to face her punishment as a traitor. Hank (David Harewood) and Supergirl (Benoist) determine the best way to keep M’gann safe is to bring her to the DEO. However, when it is revealed that Armek shape-shifted into M’gann and is now loose in the building, the team realize he could be disguised as any one of them.”
