‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Spoilers: Metallo And Lillian Luthor Break Out Of Prison In Episode 12
CADMUS is far from over.
The synopsis for Season 2, episode 12 of “Supergirl” reveals that Metallo escapes prison and frees CADMUS leader Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong). Much to Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) surprise, the authorities blame Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) for the duo’s flight and arrest her. Although there are overwhelming evidence proving that Lena is responsible for the escape of the Krypton-powered cyborg and her adoptive mom, the Girl of Steel refuses to believe that her friend is guilty and fights to clear her name.
The Luthors were last seen in Season 2, episode 8, in which Lena finally found out that Lillian is the one in charge at CADMUS. Lena tricked Lillian into believing that she supports CADMUS’ cause by giving her the isotope required to disperse the Medusa virus. But prior to the launch of the virus, Lena secretly switched out the isotope, rendering the virus inert. At the end of the episode, Lena called the police and had Lillian arrested.
That act of double-crossing clearly shows that Lena is against Lillian and CADMUS’ mission to eliminate all alien life on Earth, so it isn’t hard to understand why Kara strongly believes that Lena has no participation in Lillian and Metallo’s escape.
Episode 12, titled “Luthors,” also happens to be the show’s Valentine’s Day episode. And as previously reported, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie’s (Floriana Lima) romance also takes center stage in the episode.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Alex is beyond excited to spend her first Valentine’s Day with a girlfriend. Maggie, however, is not keen on the holiday, and that leads to their first real fight as a couple. To make it up to Alex, the police detective recreates a very special night.
Episode 12 is directed by Tawnia McKiernan from a script written by Robert Rovner and Cindy Lichtman. It airs on Monday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
