The Broome County Health Department has issued a boil water advisory for all Binghamton water customers as record flooding has left what the mayor calls a dire situation in the area. The department stated that water samples taken on Sept. 8 showed turbidity levels of 14.1 turbidity units.

On Sept. 11, 2001, I was 11 years old. I can't say when exactly I realized how young that was to understand the enormity of the attacks. But 10 years removed, I see it. For me, the world isn't divided into before and after the attacks, because there is no before.

More heavy rainfall of up to two inches per hour is falling on parts of Maryland as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee continue across the northeast of the United States. The National Weather Service on Thursday said a flash flood warning still remains in effect until 4 p.m. for Montgomery County, Md., as the heavy rainfall is being felt from Gaithersburg to the American Legion Bridge, which will cause even more flooding.
