Tarek El Moussa teased an upcoming project sans ex Christina Haack after the announcement of their long-running show, “Flip or Flop,” ending.
The 40-year-old TV personality took to Instagram Thursday to announce that his well-loved HGTV series with his 38-year-old ex-wife would end after the current 10th season. He also grabbed the chance to thank everyone who made the show possible, but he did not forget to tease what’s next for him once the series wraps up.
“New ‘Flip or Flop’ episode airs tonight! And with just two episodes left, the end of this season is a bit more bittersweet… after an incredible 10-year run, ‘Flip or Flop’ is coming to an end. This show would not have been possible without all of you following along, so THANK YOU!” El Moussa wrote in his caption for a photo showing him holding a sledgehammer and safety glasses while standing in a kitchen.
He continued, “You guys have been with us through it all — you watched me beat cancer, you’ve watched the babies grow up into the most amazing little humans and everything in between, but I’m not going anywhere, and I can promise that you are going to love what comes next!”
El Moussa’s post quickly received several responses from his fans and followers. Many of them were heartbroken over the news, and some wondered why the show was ending. Others speculated that he could be teasing a project with his wife, Heather Rae Young. El Moussa tied the knot with the real estate agent and “Selling Sunset” star in October 2021.
“I’m soooo sad! My absolute favorite show to watch,” one fan wrote.
“This is heartbreaking! It’s the best show on HGTV. Very upsetting,” another added.
“I think him & Heather are starting there [sic] own show. I had this feeling for a while now,” a third user opined.
“So we need a show with you and Heather now,” a different netizen commented.
“Will miss the show, but I guess it’s time. Hope you both continue with your individual shows,” a fifth user wrote.
Meanwhile, Haack made a separate tribute on her Instagram. She shared a photo of the crew who worked with them through the years, and she expressed her gratitude to them and the avid viewers in the caption.
“From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and every one of you who have watched the show throughout the years. I am beyond grateful for the support. I also want to thank the amazing crew who worked so hard to make this show possible,” Haack wrote.
HGTV has since confirmed the news of the show wrapping up after the current season in a statement to Deadline. The television channel acknowledged that the series was such a big hit, raking in more than 90 million viewers since its premiere in 2013.
“Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack are long-time, fan favorite stars on HGTV and it’s true that ‘Flip or Flop’ is coming to an end after an epic 10-season run as a top-rated unscripted series,” HGTV said.
The hosts and the network did not disclose why the house-flipping renovation series was coming to an end. The announcement comes less than one year after the exes reportedly got into a serious fight on the set in July 2021. Reps for the former couple and HGTV did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
El Moussa and Haack tied the knot in 2009. The two broke up in December 2016, and they finalized their divorce in January 2018. Despite being no longer a married couple, both agreed to continue working on the show.
The former spouses, who share 11-year-old daughter Taylor and 6-year-old son Brayden, already have separate shows on the channel. Haack launched “Christina on the Coast” in 2019, while El Moussa has been doing “Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa” since last year.
