Taylor Swift Turns 27: Her 6 Best Moments Of 2016
On Tuesday, Taylor Swift celebrated her 27th birthday. While she didn’t release any new music in this year, the pop star did have a big year in other ways. From Grammy Awards to endorsement deals with Apple Music and AT&T, Swift continued her run as one of music’s biggest stars. Take a look back on Swift’s 2016.
Winning Album Of The Year
Swift kicked off her 2016 by winning one of music’s most coveted awards: the Grammy Award for album of the year. The singer’s “1989” album beat out Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” and The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness.”
$1 Million Donation
The “Blank Space” singer has always been charitable and in August, Swift pledged $1 million to flood relief in Louisiana. The singer also made donations to Convoy of Hope, The Life of a Single Mom and YWCA Greater Baton Rouge.
Highest-Paid Musician
To make $1 million donations you need to have a ton of money and that’s exactly what Swift has. According to Forbes, the singer pulled in $170 million in 2016, making her not only the highest-paid musician but also the highest-paid celebrity.
Apple Music Commercial
Music wasn’t the only thing Swift did in 2016. The “Style” singer starred in the hilarious Apple Music commercial, “Taylor vs. Treadmill,” which got more than 19 million views on YouTube. The commercial was later parodied by her new friend, Drake.
AT&T Deal
Swift and AT&T signed a multi-year partnership which will feature content and performances from the pop star. One of the performances will include Swift performing the night before Super Bowl LI during DirectTV’s Super Saturday Night concert.
Surprise Wedding Appearance
This may have been a bigger moment for the bride and groom but it was still cool to see such personal interaction with a fan. After taking a break from Instagram following her breakup from Calvin Harris, Swift reemerged to reveal she surprised a fan at his wedding. The singer performed a stripped-down version of her hit, “Blank Space.”
