“Teen Wolf” Season 5 has been teasing fans all season long. After Parrish (Ryan Kelley) was revealed to be flammable in Season 4, viewers have been guessing what supernatural creature he could be. “You will learn exactly what he is within these 10 episodes — but when, I will not say,” showrunner Jeff Davis told Zap2It in June. Since the midseason finale is episode 10, we should finally get answers on Monday! So what is Deputy Parrish? Given that the mystery will soon be over, we’re taking our last chance to guess what Parrish could be.

1. Phoenix – This seemed to be the immediate guess after Parrish’s powers were first revealed in Season 4. He rose from the ashes, just like the mythical phoenix. However, since it was everyone’s first guess, it’s probably the least likely option.

2. Gargoyle – Obviously, Parrish is a little too cute to be an ugly statue, but “Teen Wolf” often alters the original mythology. Gargoyles are known to protect places from evil. Lydia (Holland Roden) said Parrish might be protecting the bodies rather than stealing them. Parrish could be protecting humans from the knowledge of evil supernatural beings like the Dread Doctors.

3. Hellhound – This has become a popular theory since Parrish was revealed to be taking bodies to the nemeton. Hellhounds have a lot of different myths and legends, but one in particular calls them the Bearers of Death and says they leave a burned area anywhere they appear. A different mythical hellhound, the Cerberus, guards the underworld so that the living and dead never meet. The “Teen Wolf” writers could easily twist that into protecting bodies of supernatural beings from curious humans.

4. Experiment – Could Parrish be one of the Dread Doctors’ experiments? Parrish’s powers don’t fit the description of any of the chimeras, but perhaps he was a different type of experiment. Donovan became a wendigo and another chimera appeared to have wings that were cut off. Maybe the Doctors gave Parrish his abilities.

Fans will have to wait until the “Teen Wolf” summer finale to find out if any of our theories are right, but viewers have been promised that the answer will be exciting. Kelley has been hinting at the reveal for weeks, and he promised that he is a powerful creature. “I just personally hoped it was going to be something cool,” the actor told Teen. “I didn’t want some rinky-dink power or a supernatural creature that couldn’t be used to someday eventually help the pack. There are still so many questions, but at least you can see that I’m somewhat powerful, so I was thrilled. I was glad that I wasn’t — like I said — something pathetic.”
