‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5 Spoilers: Who Left Scott’s Pack? Episode 8 Recap
Scott McCall wasn’t the hero in “Teen Wolf” Season 5, episode 8. Things continued to go wrong for Scott (Tyler Posey) and his pack, and it looks like the bad guys have the upper hand. After Hayden (Victoria Moroles) and Liam’s (Dylan Sprayberry) kidnapping in episode 7, Scott was hoping to at least save his friends. They had to rely on someone else while the Dread Doctors drove a pack member out of Beacon Hills.
Finding Liam and Hayden: Scott can’t track Liam and he starts to get worried. It looks like her fears are justified. In the Dread Doctor’s lab, Hayden is inspected. “Her condition worsens,” they say. Liam tries to take her pain away, but he can’t do what Scott does. He settles for just holding her hand instead.
Scott can’t wait for Corey (Michael Johnston) to read the “Dread Doctors” book, so he puts his claws into the chimera’s neck to tap into his memories. It’s a dangerous move, but Scott doesn’t seem to care about how invasive or risky it is. In Corey’s memories, Scott sees where the Dread Doctors’ lab is located. They can find Liam and Hayden at the water treatment plant…if they’re still there.
The two wake up in a new room with electrified fences and another chimera, Zack (Ben Stillwell). He says that he is an experiment too and asks for Hayden and Liam’s help. He says the Doctors took something off his back, but part of it is still there. Zack asks Liam and Hayden to take a look, and they see what appear to be two places where wings were ripped off. The Doctors eventually take Zack away.
Scott doesn’t worry about if they’ve moved, though. He wants to leave for the water treatment plant right now. Lydia (Holland Roden) is worried about how fast Scott is moving. He didn’t think about how much he could’ve hurt Corey. He isn’t considering that they have to look out for the body snatcher. He isn’t thinking about anything. Scott still insists on going, and Malia (Shelley Hennig) and Mason (Khylin Rhambo) go with him.
Unfortunately, Scott can’t catch a scent over the scent of chemicals. The Alpha starts panicking and has an asthma attack. “This is all my fault,” Scott says. “We’re never going to find them.”
Back at the house, Theo convinces Corey to open up about his experiences after being turned into a chimera. He says that he was put in the tunnels. After Theo pushes him a little more, Corey remembers that he was in a basement in someone’s house. He says that there was a giant hole in the wall. A recent crime scene that Parrish (Ryan Kelley) talked to Lydia about had a hole in the basement wall, so Theo knows where to go.
The evil werewolf finds Liam and Hayden, but the fence electrocutes him. He is knocked onto the floor, but he gets back up and withstands electrocution to break the fence.
In the car, Hayden realizes she isn’t healing. “That means I’m a ‘failure,’ doesn’t it?” Hayden asks. Liam kisses her, and suddenly, her pain is gone. Liam figured out how to take her pain away.
Scott comes home to find Liam and Hayden safe and sound. He welcomes Theo with a hug, but he and Malia both don’t look very happy.
Protecting the Bodies: Elsewhere, Sheriff Stilinski (Linden Ashby) has a big problem. Melissa (Melissa Ponzio) calls the Sheriff after finding the dead body on her table. She tells him to leave his badge at the door and he agrees. However, that changes once he sees the body on her table. He calls for backup and Scott’s mother slaps him.
“There’s a dead girl in your kitchen with a sword sticking out of her chest. What did you think I was going to do?” Stilinski says.
Stilinksi wants to know where Kira (Arden Cho) is, and one of his deputies finds her. She was walking in the middle of the road when Hayden’s sister (Benita Robledo) pulled up. She convinces the kitsune that she’ll take her home, but she handcuffs Kira as soon as she is in the car.
Kira’s father (Tom Choi) claims that it’s his sword in the dead girl's chest, and he was defending himself against an intruder. He claims that the criminal wasn’t quite dead and left their house, explaining how the body ended up at the McCall house.
The Sheriff is more worried about the dead girl’s body. He sends his deputies to protect her remains. Standing right in front of her spot in the morgue is Deputy Parrish. Stilinski doesn’t realize what an awful plan that is.
The sprinkler system malfunctions in the morgue, and water starts shooting out with enough force that it’s just white and no one can see. It allows Parrish to attack. When Parrish calmly tells the Sheriff to go to his son, who just arrived in the morgue, it’s clear that he is the body snatcher.
“It’s him. He’s the one taking the bodies,” Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) says.
“And I think I know where he’s taking them,” Lydia replies.
Kira’s Mind Control: At the police station, Kira reveals to Scott that she doesn’t remember anything. She was just suddenly in the road when the deputy found her. Scott says he doesn’t think Kira killed anyone, but the look on his face says otherwise.
Kira goes home and tries to read the book that will trigger her memories again, but it seems useless. The fox inside of her refuses to focus. Mrs. Yukimira (Tamlyn Tomita) mom tells her to trick the fox and read the book backwards.
Kira reads the book from the end and has sudden memories. She remembers seeing the Dread Doctors on Route 115 when she was returning from summer vacation. They put a needle in her eye in the middle of the highway and it was struck my lightning.
The kitsune tell her boyfriend that she knows the Dread Doctors did something to her, and she thinks she might be under their control. “I don’t want to hurt anyone, especially not you,” Kira tells Scott.
Kira is leaving Beacon Hills with her family. Because the body disappeared, there are no charges against her father. She doesn’t want to stay in Beacon Hills and risk hurting someone. She asks Scott to look at her with his wolf eyes again. The fox is burning brighter than ever, and he knows he can't ask her to stay. They share one last kiss in the rain before Kira leaves town with her parents.
Desert Wolf: Deaton (Seth Gilliam) and a friend investigate an area that was blocked due to nuclear radiation. They don’t buy that story, though. They find an old lab that belonged to the Dread Doctors. There were abandoned fetuses and children’s bones. Deaton finds an animal tooth and realizes they need to leave. Suddenly, a woman shoots Deaton’s friend. It’s the Desert Wolf (Marisol Nichols).
The killer asks if Deaton knows that her daughter is still alive. Deaton tells the Desert Wolf that he didn’t know she had a daughter. Deaton hopes he is a convincing liar. “If she is still alive, I’m just going to have to kill her again,” she threatens.
