‘Teen Wolf’ Season 6 Spoilers: Stiles Confirmed To Return; Will Dylan O’Brien’s ‘Maze Runner’ Injury Be Written In?
Stiles Stilinski is here to stay, “Teen Wolf” fans!
After Dylan O’Brien suffered injuries while filming the adventure flick “Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” fans of the supernatural series questioned if the actor was well enough to appear in Season 6 of the MTV drama. According to O’Brien’s publicist, the actor sustained injuries that were so “serious” production for the film was shut down. The delay of production then caused the film, which was originally supposed to be released in 2017, to be pushed back to having a 2018 premiere date.
“His injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recovery,” publicist Jennifer Allen revealed to Variety in April. But rest assured, loyal “Teen Wolf” viewers, O’Brien won’t let a few bumps and bruises prevent him from returning to Beacon Hills. After all, Season 6 is all about Stiles!
“Stiles is a big part of the [sixth season] because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him,” “Teen Wolf” showrunner Jeff Davis told Entertainment Weekly. “We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott [Tyler Posey], Lydia [Holland Roden], and Malia [Shelley Hennig]. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.”
Fans caught a glimpse of Stiles’ ever evolving relationships with his friend in a few Season 6 photos released by MTV. In one image, viewers can see Stiles and Scott having a heart-to-heart near the schools football field while another picture features the sarcastic character standing next to Malia. Davis revealed to TVLine that “something big” will happen between the two in the very first episode of Season 6, which has not yet been given a premiere date.
But out of all the released photos, one in particular stands out. A still of Stiles standing in the hallway of Beacon Hills High School shows Scott’s best friend sporting an unusual accessory: a wrist brace. Is it possible the writers of “Teen Wolf” wrote O’Brien’s “Maze Runner” into the Season 6 storyline? Well, according to Entertainment Weekly, the promo photo was taken before the actor began filming for the third film in the trilogy.
But Davis revealed that although it wasn’t a “Maze Runner” wound, it’s still an injury from O’Brien’s personal life that they had to write into the script. “That is a Dylan O’Brien injury that was written into the show,” Davis confirmed. “You’ll see what happens with that in the first episode.”
Could O’Brien’s Season 6 premiere accident have anything to do with his “big” scene with Hennig’s character? Fans will find out when the hit MTV series returns to the small screen with its sixth season.
