A 12-year-old boy in Texas saved his great-grandparents from his older half-brother, who allegedly stabbed them repeatedly.

The stabbing occurred Sunday while the boy and his half-brother Lucian Johnston, 20, were out driving with their great-grandparents. Their great-grandparents reportedly told Johnston he had to move out because of recent behavior, resulting in an argument between the three.

As it escalated, Johnston allegedly grabbed a pocketknife and began stabbing his great-grandparents in the neck and head when the boy intervened.

“I grabbed him from behind the shirt,” the boy told reporters. “I pulled him backwards, trying to get him away from Grandma. I did grab the knife. I held that to his neck also. He bent back my finger, which is still sore. He head-butted me, which I have a loose tooth from that, but I do not really care.”

After a short struggle, Johnston reportedly got out of the car and fled the scene.

“I’m still looking at the knife in my hand, so I take it and throw it outside, shut and lock the door,” the boy said. “At least I was there to stop it.”

Despite multiple stab wounds, the great-grandparents were able to drive to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Both required multiple stables and stitches but did not suffer life-threatening wounds.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office located Johnston on Monday at his friend's house. He was arrested and is being charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
