‘Thor: Ragnarok’ End-Credits Scene: What Does It Mean For Marvel’s Future?
Every Marvel film has an end-credits scene that fans should watch out for, since it always indicates the direction of the future Marvel films.
“Thor: Ragnarok,” the studio’s latest release, is no exception. In it, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) were staring out the window and came face to face with a gigantic spaceship.
According to Entertainment Weekly, there’s a huge chance that the spaceship belongs to Thanos, the bad guy from the “Avengers” films. Thanos will next appear in “Avengers: Infinity War,” where he will battle it out with Thor, Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Black Widow (Scarlett Johanssen).
The spaceship that Thor and Loki saw even looks a lot like the Thanos-affiliated Chitauri - the aliens who attacked the Avengers in New York.
Meanwhile, another thing that fans can expect in “Avengers: Infinity War” is that Thor will still sport his one-eyed look. The god of thunder lost his eye after his battle with Hela (Cate Blanchett), and director Taika Waititi revealed that it’s something that they came up with organically.
“That kind of just evolved just throughout the script process, to just keep stripping that character down, having him lose the hammer and all those things and to kind of create a broken version of the character. At the end, he sort of becomes a refugee,” he said.
Hemsworth added that Thor’s one-eyed look will even be carried over in the next Marvel films. “Yeah we carry it into the film with the eye patch you see in this film,” he confirmed.
Tessa Thompson also made a huge splash in the film. Her tough-talking, booze-loving Valkyrie stood for female empowerment, and Thompson hoped that Marvel will continue featuring strong female characters.
“Recently, I marched up with a couple of other women that work in Marvel and we went to Kevin [Feige], ‘What about a movie with some female super heroes?’” she told io9. “Like all of them? There’s a precedent for it in the comics, right? With teams like Lady Liberators?”
Personally, Feige said it is an idea worth considering. “It was a pretty amazing moment to be somewhere and have your shoulder get tapped and turn around [and see that] every female hero we have is standing there going, ‘How about it?’” Feige said. “And I said, ‘Yes.’”
“Thor: Ragnarok” was released on Nov. 3.
