Tom Schwartz has set the record straight on some rumors about his split from wife Katie Maloney.
The "Vanderpump Rules" star, who described their separation as "complicated," was seen outside a Home Depot in Los Angeles Wednesday, a day after he and Maloney announced they were calling it quits.
When asked how he was doing, Schwartz told photographers that he is "OK," according to a video obtained by E! News. "Of course I'm sad, but, you know, we still love each other very much," he added, referring to Maloney.
The Bravo star was also asked about the rumors that his pal Tom Sandoval had something to do with his separation from Maloney. Schwartz quickly denied the claims and took all the blame for the end of their marriage.
"No, no, that's all on me," Schwartz said. "I wish I had a scapegoat, but that's all on me."
He added, "It's complicated, obviously. But nothing in particular. You know, life, you know. It's complicated."
As for whether he and Maloney would continue filming together for "Vanderpump Rules," Schwartz said he wasn't sure what the future holds but was "always optimistic."
Schwartz, Sandoval and Maloney have had a complicated dynamic on the show over the years. Schwartz would often find himself debating whose side to take in arguments between the two, Page Six noted.
For instance, last season, Maloney expressed interest in joining the pair in their new bar. However, Sandoval didn't like the idea, and Schwartz agreed with him.
Two years prior, Sandoval called Maloney a "bully" during an argument, leading to Schwartz confronting his friend and asking him to be respectful toward his wife.
Schwartz and Maloney announced their separation after more than five years of marriage and nearly 12 years together in separate Instagram statements Tuesday.
"After 12 years on an adventure through life together, Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship," Maloney wrote.
Schwartz, meanwhile, shared throwback photos of them over the years. He accompanied the snaps with a heartfelt message in which he acknowledged that it would be "far sadder" if Maloney decides to stay with him even if she's unhappy.
"She taught me so much about love and being a better partner. It's hard not to feel like a statistic. Another failed marriage," he wrote. "I don't look at it as a failure. As sad as I am, [I'm] still happy to say there's no anger or bitterness. Zero. Still so much love for you @musickillskate."
