Tommy Hilfiger Eyes Kate Middleton's Sister Pippa Middleton To Promote His Brand
American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger has his eyes fixed on Pippa Middleton for promoting his brand. The designer revealed that he met with Kate Middleton’s younger sister in London this week. Hilfiger spoke to Hello at the Fragrance Foundation Awards in New York City on Wednesday night.
The designer confirmed that Pippa is a candidate to represent Tommy Hilfiger. He said he started by sending her some clothes first. “I sent the preppy casual summer dresses and things like that. I hope she wears them,” he said. Pippa would follow in the footsteps of stars like Katie Holmes, who was a brand ambassador, and Kendall Jenner, who appeared in a recent Tommy Hilfiger fashion show.
While Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, adheres to stricter rules when it comes to endorsing any products, Pippa is free to choose what she wears. The 31-year-old younger Middleton sister does not face the same global scrutiny as Kate, who is married into the British royal family, Hilfiger said.
Kate has never been known to wear clothes from Tommy Hilfiger. But, the fashion designer told Vogue in 2011 that he would love to dress the Duchess in his creations, adding that she already has the makings of the perfect preppy. Hilfiger said that Kate has a very classic yet modern style.
Meanwhile, the designer, known for his country club chic looks, is excited about his latest celeb endorser: Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, who will be the face of a Tommy Hilfiger scent that will be launched this fall. Nadal is equally as excited and said in a statement that he has always admired the brand’s cool, all-American designs, which are sophisticated and easy to wear. He was excited to be partnering with the brand.
This is the second major fashion modeling gig for the tennis great. In 2011, he appeared with Megan Fox in ads for Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans. The global tennis star also will appear as the brand ambassador for Tommy’s underwear and Tommy Hilfiger Tailored collections beginning in the fall, as was announced in 2014. Both collections are available at Tommy Hilfiger stores globally, through select wholesale partners and online at tommy.com.
