Jennifer Lopez is leaning on ex-husband Marc Anthony for support after her recent breakup from Alex Rodriguez, according to a report.
It has been about seven years since the singer-songwriter, 52, and the Hollywood actress-singer, 51, finalized their divorce, but they remain cordial toward each other — so much so that Anthony is now showing his support for Lopez after her split from the retired MLB player.
Anthony and Lopez “have each other’s backs,” especially at this point in time when the “Jenny from the Block” singer is recovering from her recent heartbreak, an unnamed insider exclusively told Entertainment Tonight Thursday.
“Jennifer and Marc have a friendship and are supportive of each other whether it comes to parenting, personal matters or their careers,” the insider said, after noting that Lopez has maintained a friendly relationship with Anthony despite their divorce because he is the father of her children — twins Emme and Maximilian, 13.
Anthony has so much respect for Lopez, both personally and professionally. In an interview with InStyle earlier this month, the “You Sang To Me” hitmaker spoke highly of his ex and praised her work ethic.
“She's the first one in the room and the last to leave. The hardest worker I've ever met. When we were together, it was quite the opposite for me. That has changed since. I learned so much from her. She's the original,” he said.
Lopez and Rodriguez officially announced their breakup in a joint statement issued on April 15. According to them, they have come to the realization that they were better off as friends than lovers and made it clear that they will continue to support each other moving forward.
Prior to the announcement, Lopez already fueled breakup rumors when she updated her Instagram with new snaps from the set of her upcoming movie “Shotgun Wedding” that was being shot in the Dominican Republic. The photos caught a lot of attention online as she was clearly no longer wearing her engagement ring from Rodriguez.
Despite the split, Lopez showed that she still cares about Rodriguez’s family as she greeted her ex-fiancé's daughter Ella on the latter’s 13th birthday on Wednesday. The “Maid in Manhattan” star shared a photo of her and Ella hugging on the photo-sharing platform to mark the girl’s birthday.
