Talks about Khabib Numagomedov slugging it out against Tony Ferguson may be one signature away as the Russian fighter signed the agreement to fight “El Cucuy”. With this development, this also means that Conor McGregor needs to wait a little longer to get his hands on his rival.

In a previous interview, the current UFC Lightweight Champion said in an interview in his native language in Uzbekistan that he chose Brooklyn, NY as the venue of their fight. He also said that they are currently communicating with the UFC to make the fight happen and he is looking to have it on April next year.

Khabib’s manager Ali Abdelaziz posted on Twitter a screenshot of a fight agreement signed by the undefeated fighter. It shows Khabib’s signature signed on November 25.

Previous reports posted on Bloody Elbow that he is demanding Nevada State Athletic Commission for the penalty that was imposed on him last year. He was penalized for his involvement in a post-fight fiasco for attacking McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis which cost at $500,000 fine and a suspension for half a year. With the time frame of the penalty already gone, it looks like that the 31-year old fighter is already set his sights in bringing the fight to New York.

A fight five years in the making, the two were supposed to square up on four separate occasions but was halted due to various reasons. The Sun UK posted that Khabib, undefeated in 28 UFC fights, went down with injuries in 2015 and 2017 while the 35-year old American withdrawing in 2016 and 2018.

Ferguson’s last fight was in UFC 238 last June where he beat “Cowboy: Donald Cerrone via TKO due to a cut under his right eye, which forced the doctor to wave the fight off. The win stretched his winning streak to 12 that started in 2013.

On a separate post, Abdelaziz also claimes that they are not belittling Ferguson but this time, he is wishing for both fighters to be at their best health for the fight to happen next year.
