The Undertaker Returns To WWE ‘Monday Night Raw,’ Challenges Roman Reigns To WrestleMania 33 Match [VIDEO]
The Undertaker made his return to WWE, showing up on “Monday Night Raw” for the first time since the Royal Rumble. The Deadman confronted Roman Reigns, seemingly challenging him to a match at WrestleMania 33.
The final segment of Monday’s show featured The Undertaker interrupting Braun Strauman, who called Reigns out one night after losing to the former Shield member at WWE Fastlane. Strowman left the ring when The Undertaker entered it, allowing Reigns to come down the ramp and go face-to-face with one of the most legendary wrestlers in history.
“Braun wasn’t calling you out here, Deadman. He called me,” Reigns said. “So with all due respect, this is my yard now.”
The Undertaker didn’t say a word, but his intentions were clear. He stared at the giant WrestleMania sign that hung from the ceiling, indicating that he wanted a match with Reigns at WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of 2017. After Reigns eyed the sign, as well, The Undertaker grabbed him by the throat and delivered a Chokeslam.
Seeds for the feud were planted at the Royal Rumble when Reigns eliminated The Undertaker from the battle royal. Before the PPV, it had been speculated that The Undertaker might face John Cena at WrestleMania 33.
Even though both WWE superstars are babyfaces, the crowd erupted in cheers when Reigns was slammed into the mat. It seems clear that most fans will be rooting for The Undertaker, who could potentially be headed towards his final WrestleMania match.
If The Undertaker does plan to call it quits after WrestleMania 33, his match with Reigns could headline the event. Otherwise, the WWE Universal Championship Match between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar might close the show.
Viewed as the future face of WWE, Reigns has been in the final match of WrestleMania in each of the last two years. He faced Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 31, and Reigns defeated Triple H to win the WWE World Championship at the end of WrestleMania 32.
The Undertaker defeated Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 32, improving his all-time WrestleMania record to 23-1. He hasn’t fought in the last match of WrestleMania since 2010 when he ended Shawn Michaels’ career.
